Gilbert Location

Gilbert, Arizona holds the distinction of being the fastest-growing city in the US, according to recent census figures. And it’s no surprise as to why. It’s a great place to be! A suburb of Phoenix, Gilbert is home to approximately 134,000 people. It is a quiet bedroom community with much to offer. It is located just south of Mesa, which is home to Mesa Community College, one of the largest community colleges in the US, with around 23,000 students. The result of that is plentiful housing near the Gilbert location of the Conservatory.

The Conservatory broke ground on the Gilbert facility in November of 2002, and held its first classes there on November 3rd, 2003. It took a full year to complete this large and sophisticated facility. It’s located in a light industrial park, with beautiful tree-lined streets. It’s a truly nice part of town.

The Gilbert location is about 8 minutes away from the Tempe location via the US60 freeway. Like Tempe, Gilbert is a definitive Arizona city, with all the trappings, not the least of which is the unmistakable Arizona sunset, which splashes the sky with color almost every day, year-round. Tempe and Gilbert are very close together, so Gilbert residents enjoy the same wonderful recreational opportunities as their Tempe counterparts. Bicycling, swimming, volleyball, rollerblading, and some of the finest golf in the world are found in and around the area. Even skiing is available via a short two-hour drive north to Flagstaff.

Gilbert is in the East Valley of the Phoenix metro area, and the music scene is robust here as well. Mesa, to the north of Gilbert, is the home of the Platinum award-winning Jimmy Eat World. Other successful valley recording artists include Troy Luccketta of Tesla, Alice Cooper, Soul Fly, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Also, many players for the 2001 World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks MLB team call the East Valley home.

All of the Conservatory’s students spend 15 weeks in one location, then 15 weeks in the other, essentially swapping places. This affords excellent exposure to many studios, labs, and instructors, increasing the diversity and quality of the education.
