Admissions Requirements & Procedures
The Conservatory practices a selective enrollment policy. Minimally, a high school diploma or GED is required. A person interested in attending should apply online at www.audiorecordingschool.com/apply-now.htm. Incomplete applications will be rejected. We also require a copy of the applicant’s high school diploma (or GED) and any diplomas or degrees conferred by any other post-secondary institution, such as a college or university. Upon receipt of the application, an Admissions Representative will call to schedule a telephone interview with the applicant.
The application is intended to provide us with information about the applicant’s educational background, work history, experience with audio and music, and goals, among other things. The interview is intended to help fill in the blanks, since it’s difficult to get one’s life story on paper. A quick glance through our application will make it abundantly clear that we are serious about enrolling only academically capable, self-motivated people who have appropriate goals. The application may also be reviewed by the Director of Admissions, and potentially by the school’s Administrator as well. An accepted applicant is required to make a deposit (which is applied toward tuition) to secure a seat in an upcoming class start. We also request official transcripts from all other institutions the applicant has ever attended, starting with high school.
In this viewbook, there is a cover letter and a business card from the person who has been assigned as your Admissions Representative. When you apply an Admissions Representative will interview you, and if you are accepted and choose to attend, you’ll work with a Student Planning Coordinator. We created this position to help future students with logistical issues like housing, scheduling, and other things outside school itself. Our SPCs are here to help. They can assist you with almost any question you might have about the logistics of getting here, getting settled in, and getting started in school. Any technical or curriculum-oriented questions should be directed to your Admissions Representative, but once you’re enrolled, nearly all your inquiries will be handled by your SPC.
Financial Services
We’re aware that students may require some financial assistance to attend school. Most of our students do utilize some kind of financial aid. Our Student Financial Services department provides a tremendous amount of assistance and planning for students who choose to utilize various types of financial aid. We have a number of different means to help our students attend. Federal financial aid is available to those who qualify. This is the same kind of financial aid that is available at other universities and colleges (e.g. Stafford Loans and Pell Grants.) There are also several kinds of private financial resources available to our students as well. Many students like to use FACTS management to pay for tuition with no interest attached. The Conservatory is also approved for Veteran’s Administration and Montgomery G.I. Bill benefits. As a result of all that is offered, finances should not be an issue that deters a person from applying and ultimately attending the Conservatory. There is a way for nearly everyone to be able to finance his or her education.
To find out what kind of Financial Aid you may qualify for you can complete the Federal Aid application offered by FAFSA by first filling out the Conservatory's on-line application and then filling out FAFSA's on-line application. Click here to apply on-line.

Housing
A high percentage of the Conservatory’s students come from outside Arizona (and even outside of the U.S.) and must make housing arrangements. Since we’re only experts in audio and not housing, we’ve deliberately chosen not to offer on-campus housing. Also, there is no shortage of housing in this area, so it’s very easy for incoming students to find a great place to live. And although we do not formally arrange roommates for students, we have ways to help students make the connections themselves. We would also strongly recommend enlisting the help of an apartment locating service. There is one with which we have worked for nearly 10 years, and they are excellent. Your SPC can provide you with housing information as well.
Licensing & Accreditation
The Conservatory is licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education. This school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT.) ACCSCT is listed by the US Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency under the Provision of Chapter 33, Title 38, US Code and subsequent legislation.
What this means for Conservatory students is that they can attend with confidence that the school and its instructional staff meet stringent guidelines set forth by state and national governing bodies. The Conservatory is proud of its initial accreditation nearly 15 years ago and the fact that it has since then been re-accredited three times (for five years each) with no stipulations. Continuous accreditation demonstrates a superior school.
Approvals & Memberships
The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences is a Digidesign Certified Training Location and an Apple Authorized Training Center. The Conservatory’s memberships include the Career College Association, the Arizona Private School Association, the National Association of Music Merchants, and the Society of Professional Audio Recording Services. Additionally, the Conservatory is approved for training by the Arizona Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), the Arizona State Approving Agency for Veteran’s Training, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Career Advising
The Conservatory offers placement assistance throughout the careers of its graduates. We have developed a team known as the Student Services Department that exists for one purpose—to help students formulate career goals and to implement a plan to achieve those goals. The Student Services Department is very well connected in the audio industry, and they help our students make connections of their own in order to launch successful careers.
